A multidisciplinary artist whose practice integrates the fields of floral design, photography, and video. Born in Vietnam, she immigrated to the US at age 8 and grew up in Minnesota. After one year in refugee camps in Indonesia. she holds a B.A. from Stanford university and an M.F.A. from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She has exhibited floral installations, video, and photography at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and the the Saint Louis Art Museum. Her work has been published in Vogue Spain, Vogue China, and Vogue Italy, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Kinfolk, among others. Recognized by her dreamy palettes and compositions, her work often revolves around the colors and flowers that pass through her studio, as well as the guests who visit, the assistants who work for her, and occasionally, even the lunch delivery person. Together they form an ensemble of performers, models, and subjects for Doan’s collaborative experiments.
